All in London Trips
Eating cake and drinking tea is a favourite pastime, so I’ve wanted to try what I imaged to be the ultimate afternoon tea at Sketch in London for some time.
As an interiors stylist and a lover of nosying around the homes of others, guilt free, the Living Etc House Tours is THE event of my interiors calendar, and one that I really missed in 2020.
The Standard, London is housed in the former Camden Town Hall Annex built in 1974 in true Brutalist style, and it’s been on my hotel wish list since it opened in 2019. With it’s jaw-droppingly cool interior, sympathetic to its 1970’s exterior, great restaurants and bars within its shell, and bedrooms with a view of my favourite building in London - I thought it was time to visit The Standard.
You can imagine my absolute delight when I learned that the Living Etc House Tours were taking place for a second time this year. The October tour was located in the area of Highbury & Islington, where we were welcomed into six more fantastic homes full of charm and character.
Hot on the heels of my recent trip to the 100% Design event in London, I headed back down south to visit Decorex, Europe’s leading exhibition event for interior design professionals, to soak up some more design inspo and take a peek into the future of interiors.
This year the London Design Festival celebrates 25 years, so I knew it would be an inspiring trip. As well as showcasing some of the world’s leading interior brands, the festival also celebrates hot new talent from designers and makers.
The yearly pilgrimage from Manchester to the Living Etc House Tours in London was as much joy this year as any of the other three of these events I have graced. This year in the Peckham and Camberwell areas, six more home owners welcomed us into their beautiful, inspirational homes, full of personality and we came away brimming with a head full of ideas and excitement.
Just over a month ago I attended my first short course at KLC School of Design called Interior Styling for Beginners held by Judith Wilson, Interior Stylist and Author. The whole day got me thinking about personal style as a whole…
The Living Etc House Tours never cease to amaze me. This is the third time I’ve hot footed to London for the day to have a nosey around 6 fabulous houses that have been featured in the magazine.
This image I took at the Bert Frank stand at Decorex 2017 is my favourite image from both of the shows that I attended this year.
