THE VINTAGE HOME SHOW - VICTORIA BATHS MANCHESTER
What a great venue for The Vintage Home Show. I'm actually quite sad that I've lived in Manchester for 10 years now, and yesterday was the first time that I'd visited Victoria Baths, it was The Vintage Home Show that drew me in! Wow, what an amazing place, Victorian architecture in all it's glory with magnificent bright green tiles throughout the building, offset with the amazing vintage/retro/kitsch goods on offer. It really was a feast for my eyes. I took my mum along with me, and the 60s were her hay day so she was feeling really nostalgic and happy (and also rather bitter that she'd disposed of most of her goods from that time!) 'Like a trip down memory lane' she said, bless.
Retrolicious was proberly my favourite seller there, not just because the furniture was amazing and in fantastic condition (i really need the cream vinyl curved arm chair in my life - image below) but also because of the awe inspiring room it was located in. Walking into that room was absolutely breathtaking, with the huge, colourful, stained glass windows in magnificent condition. The way that the light came through and bounced off the green Victorian tiles, off set against the retro furniture...wow, what a setting. I absolutely loved it. The guy that we spoke to from the company was so passionate about his business, it was a real pleasure to talk to him. I will definitely be visiting the main showroom in Salford Quays, and hopefully, one day will own the chair!
There were so many great things to be seen and bought, furniture, figures, records, prints and fabric, I can't wait for the next one in March.
