GLAM & STYLISH MID CENTURY LIVING ROOM
The 1960's is a decade I would have loved to have experienced, not just for the style and furniture but also the music scene, fashion and culture. The furniture profiles were slick and cool and didn’t try to hard and I absolutely love this vibe. I wanted to put together a dream scheme for a mid-century inspired living room using one of my all time favourite pieces of furniture - the Hendricks sofa from Habitat, in ORANGE VELVET - so fabulous.
The piece looks so amazing against navy blue, so I imagine deep, inky, navy blue walls, or it could work with mid-grey also but it wouldn't be quite the statement.
Considering this is a ‘dream scheme’, it means no budget limitations, which in this case means a rug from The Rug Company! This one is Stingray in the cream colour way and it adds that neutral, grounding element to stop it getting too crazy.
As with any entertaining space inspired by the 60's era, it absolutely requires a cocktail cabinet! The one I've used here is from West Elm, which features two scaled versions of the same bold black and white geometric pattern. It's not cheap but it's so swish and the perfect place to keep your brass pineapple ice bucket and martini glasses.
What do you think of the scheme? What's your favourite style?
Here is the shopping list for all the items if you want to re-create the look, and why wouldn't you!
