May 10 THE BEST OF PINK!

Millennial Pink is the gift that keeps on giving! I’m seeing the trend still going strong in some really cool products and I love it. I don’t at all think it’s odd to have a pink room in the house, and anyway this board was put together more around the totally incredible Carnival Pale rug by Paul Smith for Rug Company. It’s just such a fabulous rug, perfectly pastely but with hints of grey to make it not as girly and gives it a slight edge.

I imagine a world not only where I will be able to afford these items, but also have a house big enough so that I can be frivolous and do the pink room thing. The major statement has to be the Cipria sofa by Fernando & Humberto Campana for Edra, it’s just mega. The ideal place for cosy chats with friends with drinks and films. Or solo in pjs with a brew and Mad Men.

This whole bubblegum girly look is grounded with the absolute piece of kit which is the Kendo cabinet, a new addition by Swoon Editions. It balances the scheme with it’s dark wood and metallic finish, all very Oriental and it makes for a brilliant drinks cabinet too. The shiny finish is then echoed in the Slit side table by Hay. It’s angular silhouette along with the dark wood of the cabinet gives the look a tougher edge.

The accessories are where slight affordability comes in, and if I could have one thing on this board it would be the Bump vase by Tom Dixon, I need it so bad. I want it on my TV cabinet with a protea in it all year long.

The pink velvet curtains from Debenhams is another price conscious piece starting at just £60 and the Marimekko Oiva/Siirtolapuutarha cup is £16. Not a bargain for a mug by any means but it would be a nice one for a pay day treat.

If you know me, you’ll know I have a penchant for gloss paint! I’ve wanted to create a red study/library/creative space/very bold room for some time, so having the opportunity to do that in my back bedroom has been a real trip! Although the box bedroom is exactly that (just over 2 meters squared pre- bookcases), I knew that designed well, the wall to wall glossy bookcases would really work in here, regardless of it’s size.

Eating traditional food on holiday, especially in Italy can be a bit stressful for me because I get worried that heat and hunger will get the better of me and fall into a tourist trap. I’m always want the nonnas kitchen vibe, so anything less just won’t do. I wanted to document the lovely things we saw and the tasty (and traditional) places we ate for future trips, as a reminder for me, and (hopefully) of help to you. So here’s a run down of the best places to eat and see in Verona, Sirmione (Lake Garda) and Bologna.
